CHICAGO - Police in Chicago say a man who made threats against police officers and children has been arrested and charged.

The Chicago Police Department said in a news release Saturday that 33-year-old Aries Woodfin of south suburban Ford Heights faces multiple charges.

According to the statement, officers acting on a search warrant found Woodfin in possession of an illegal firearm.

Besides the weapons charge, he was also charged with assault and disorderly conduct.

Woodfin was scheduled to appear in bond court Saturday. It was not immediately clear if he already had an attorney.

A police spokesman refused to provide any other details, including the precise nature of the threats or how they were made.
