Motorcyclist sentenced in girlfriend's crash death

GREENWOOD, Ind. - A suburban Indianapolis man will spend one year in work release and a year on home detention after pleading guilty to charges in a motorcycle crash that killed his girlfriend.

A Brown County judge also ordered 34-year-old William Lambert to complete 800 hours of community service. The Daily Journal reports Lambert pleaded guilty this week to a reckless homicide charge for the September 2013 crash that killed 27-year-old Jennifer Garrison of Greenwood.

Authorities say Lambert didn't have a motorcycle endorsement and was passing a vehicle in a no-passing zone at more than 80 mph when he slammed the motorcycle's brakes in trying to avoid an approaching truck on Indiana 135 in northern Brown County. Garrison was thrown from the motorcycle and hit by the truck.
