Aurora apartment sees home invasion

An Aurora apartment suffered a home invasion Monday, leaving one man with a laceration, officials said.

The home invasion occurred on the 1000 block of Liberty Street Monday around 4:17 a.m., according to an email from Media Relations Manager Dan Ferrelli. A 41-year-old man said the suspect came into his apartment, took out a pocket knife and demanded money. The victim followed the order, and then the suspect led him out of the apartment.

The victim then ran upstairs and called for help, with the suspect following him.

Two other male residents, 55 and 42, went to help and tried to fight off the home invader. The suspect hit the 55-year-old upside the head with a piece of wood that was in the hallway. Ferrelli wrote the 55-year-old sustained a laceration, but refused medical treatment.

The suspect has been described as 35 to 40 years old, 180 to 190 pounds and 5'10". He has short, black hair and was wearing a puffy coat, dark pants and a black beanie with a black puffy ball on top.

As of Tuesday at 7 p.m., Ferrelli said in an email police had not arrested any suspects for the home invasion.

Anyone with information should call (630) 256-5000 or Aurora Area Crime Stoppers at (630) 892-1000.
