1 dead after ATVs crash through Wisconsin ice

FOX LAKE, Wis. - A man who was part of a group riding all-terrain vehicles on Fox Lake has died and two others were rescued after they went through thin ice.

The Dodge County Sheriff's office says Tuesday evening's incident on southern bay also resulted in the non-life threatening injury of a responding police officer. Several police, fire and medical responders were involved in the rescue of two of the male ATV riders. The third man remained in the chilly water for an hour and was pronounced dead at a hospital.

Names and details about the riders were not immediately released.

The Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources was conducting an investigation. Officials are warning that people use extreme caution on frozen waterways because ice conditions are varying due to warm weather.
