Gold coin worth $350 dropped in Indiana kettle
VALPARAISO, Ind. - A 1901 gold coin valued at $350 was dropped into a Salvation Army red kettle outside a Walmart store in Valparaiso.
Salvation Army Major Jon Welch told The Times of Munster (http://bit.ly/1vlvJbZ ) the organization also received a silver "Bicentennial Constitution" coin as well as a pair of rare quarters. The quarters were dropped in a kettle at the Town and Country grocery store in Portage.
The Salvation Army said it also received a $5,000 check from the Northern Indiana Public Service Co.
