Thieves hit Naperville Apple Store; grab 13 iPhones

Thieves escaped with 13 of the newest iPhones and an iPad Mini after hitting the Apple Store in Naperville, authorities said.

Police were called at 11:42 a.m. Dec. 18 to the store at 120 W. Jefferson Ave. for a theft in progress, Sgt. Bill Davis said.

Police said witnesses saw four black men about 20 years old enter the store and take 13 iPhones of the most recent model, the iPhone 6, as well as one iPad Mini. The men then ran out the front door onto Jefferson Avenue without paying for the phones or the tablet.

Davis said a witness saw all four men get into a silver vehicle that might have been an Audi or a Saab, but officers could not find the vehicle or the suspects.

Police are reviewing surveillance video as they continue investigating the theft.

Anyone who might have information about the theft is asked to call Naperville police at (630) 420-6726 or place an anonymous call to Naperville Crime Stoppers at (630) 420-6006 to potentially qualify for a reward for information leading to an arrest.
