3 arrested in string of Arlington Hts. burglaries

Arlington Heights police have arrested an 18-year-old man and two juveniles in connection with a string of residential burglaries that occurred over the past two months on the far north side of town, according to a news release issued early Saturday. Most of the stolen items were recovered.

Marlvin Hill, 18, of the 4000 block of Bonhill Drive, has been charged with two counts of residential burglary, police said. Bond was set at $30,000 and hill was released after posting 10 percent. His next court date is Jan. 13.

The two juveniles, whose ages weren't given, also were charged with residential burglary.

According to the release, police believe the offenders are responsible for at least nine residential burglaries and four attempted burglaries in the area of Lake-Cook and Wilke road, which is where Hill lives. The burglars entered unlocked sliding glass doors of apartments and single-family homes, targeting electronic items and jewelry.

The break in solving the case came after one of the victims noticed stolen property on eBay, Sgt. Rich Sperando said Saturday. Police purchased an item, then tracked down the seller, who wasn't involved in the burglaries. The seller said he had obtained the item from Hill, Sperando said. Hill in turn led them to the two juveniles, he said.

Most of the stolen items have been recovered and arrangements are being made to return the stolen property to the rightful owners, the news release said. They were stored in Hill's home, Sperando said.

According to earlier police reports, burglars stole more than $10,000 worth of electronics and other items between Nov. 26 and Dec. 13, mostly in the 4100 and 4200 block of North Bloomington Avenue, the 4200 block of Mallard Lane, the 4000 block of Newport Lane, and the 4100 and 4200 blocks of North Yale Avenue.

Among the items stolen were computers, cameras, video games and game consoles, and a cellphone.
