Don't feel threatened by Christmas music
For years Christmas was celebrated as "the birth of Christ." Today it has become very commercial and celebrated more with Santa, holiday songs, and lit-up houses, buildings and parks. Nothing is wrong with this, but people should remember this is a celebration of Christ, our Savior's birth, for Christians.
You cannot take Christ out of Christmas. Not allowing children to sing Christmas carols or a Christmas program, while other religions are allowed to have programs on different religions, is not right. "Holiday" programs are fine, but don't have them to celebrate Christmas.
We have freedom of religion, not from religion. It is good that kids are exposed to different religions and ethnic groups and learn respect for all of them. Freedom of religion is one of the reasons people left their "old countries" and came to America.
People complain about hearing Christmas music while they are shopping because it brings religion into Christmas. Christmas is religious and not only about decorations, presents and Santa. We are so materialistic. It is wonderful to see all the houses decorated, but do the people know what they are celebrating?
It is disturbing when school bands and choruses can't play or sing traditional Christmas Music. It is beautiful music, and people enjoy it as many carols are written by great composers. Why are people threatened by this? It is not an attempt to change anyone's religion. People are allowed to practice whatever religion they want. Many don't practice any religion at all. It is an opportunity for people to enjoy beautiful music they might not hear otherwise.
If there was ever a time to praise God, it is now! We must bring God back into our country. He has been gone too long!
