North Barrington mom pledges to streak for the environment

A North Barrington woman has vowed to go streaking down Michigan Avenue if her new environmentally-themed online radio network raises $50,000 by mid-January.

Lynn Hasselberger, the CMO/Producer for The Green Divas Global Digital Radio Network, said she is guessing her 13-year-old daughter will be embarrassed by her stunt, but it's all for a good cause.

"I am just a normal, 'girl next door' environmental advocate, and the closest I've been to naked is my bikini." Hasselberger said. "I'm doing it all in the name of raising awareness about green issues and our children's future,"

"The Green Divas Radio Show," hosted by Megan McWilliams, has been on the air for about eight years. In that time the Divas have interviewed celebrities such as Mariel Hemingway and Jessica Alba about the environmental issues of the day.

Hasselberger said the fundraising money is to get the online radio network running. The network will feature shows about green and environmental issues, including one with Chicago-based television journalist Bill Kurtis.

Hasselberger said one of the pledge rewards being offered is the opportunity to have Kurtis to record donors' voice mail greetings.

"I mean, who wouldn't want Bill Kurtis to answer their phone?" Hasselberger said.

Hasselberger said the drive has raised almost $3,000 so far.
