NIU graduate shot outside Texas TV station

A weather forecaster who attended Northern Illinois University was shot multiple times outside a central Texas television station Wednesday morning, according to reports.

Patrick Crawford, who attended NIU and is a native of Plano, Texas, was taken to a hospital. After surgery, according to reports, he was talking to police.

Crawford exchanged words with the shooter before the man pulled out a semiautomatic handgun and fired several times. Crawford managed to escape in his car and flag down a construction worker for help.

Law enforcement officials were searching for the suspect, who is described as a white male in his 30s, according to KCEN-TV in Waco, where Crawford works.
