Three men charged in Aurora armed robberies

Three men have been charged in connection with three armed robberies in October, Aurora officials said Tuesday.

Martell White, 25, of Dolton, Charles Campbell, 27, of Chicago and Derrick Glasper, 27, of Bellwood, have been charged with three counts of Class-X armed robbery, according to a news release.

The three men were charged in connection with the Oct. 28 armed robbery of a Payday Loan store on the 900 block of East New York Street, the Oct. 30 armed robbery of an AutoZone on the 1000 block of East Galena Boulevard and the Oct. 30 armed robbery of a Marathon gas station on the 1700 block of North Farnsworth Avenue.

No one was injured during any of the robberies. Cash was taken during each incident.

During the robberies, victims had their wrists bound by zip ties. Authorities were able to obtain a fingerprint matching White from a zip tie used in the Marathon robbery, according to the news release.

Surveillance footage from a business near the AutoZone also showed three men matching the descriptions of White, Campbell and Glasper getting away in a white SUV, authorities said.

Aurora detectives also learned that Chicago police had arrested Campbell and White on Nov. 4 on armed robbery charges. Detectives said they were in a white SUV that was used when committing the crime.

The same white SUV had made a toll violation on the eastbound Farnsworth Avenue ramp at Interstate 88 within a few minutes of the Marathon robbery, authorities said.

Glasper had been arrested by Chicago police on a weapons charge on Nov. 18. He was also recognized by a tipster from photos of the Marathon robbery posted on a local news website, police said.
