GLCU staff hold sixth annual 'Giving Dinner'

Submitted by Great Lakes Credit Union

Staff from Great Lakes Credit Union volunteered on Sunday, Nov. 23, to help the less fortunate for the sixth year in a row.

The "Giving Dinner" was hosted at the Greenbelt Cultural Center in North Chicago in partnership with the Shalem Adventist Community Service Organization and offered a free holiday buffet to around 200 low-income and homeless individuals who were encouraged to attend by local missions and shelters. Live entertainment, games and storytelling for the kids, and singing performances were provided for those who might otherwise have no hot meal, companionship or celebration during the holidays.

Many coats, hats, gloves and warm clothing items, generously donated by GLCU members and staff as part of their "Warmth Drive" were distributed to all individuals and families who were in need. Children were also able to select donated books and stuffed animals.

In the continuing harsh economic climate, GLCU staff felt privileged to be able to give back to struggling individuals and families and receive a smile or gesture of gratitude in return.

Great Lakes Credit Union has 56,000 plus members and over $630 million in assets headquartered in North Chicago with branches in Antioch, Bolingbrook, Country Club Hills, Gurnee, Naperville, Round Lake Beach, South Holland, Waukegan, Willow Springs and Zion.
