Circle Dec. 7 as a day to remember

President Franklin D. Roosevelt proclaimed Dec. 7, 1941, as "a date which will live in infamy" subsequent to the attack on Pearl Harbor. Evidently the staff of the Daily Herald as well as Chicago Tribune did not feel this date was very significant to their American readers as neither featured a single Pearl Harbor story in their respective news sections on Dec. 7. The Daily Herald did, however, offer two wonderful recognition features in the Dec. 8 edition on pages 8 and 11.

Our brave and courageous military men and women of past, present and future should never, ever, be forgotten or relegated to the back pages of any publication. Please circle the Dec. 7 date in your future publishing calendars so those who proudly served our country during that "infamous" date will not be forgotten again.
