Williams, Dellorto break 500 records in Meadows' victory

Rolling Meadows d. Elk Grove: Rolling Meadows earned its first dual victory of the boys swimming season, topping Elk Grove 136-44 on Friday in the facility both teams share at Elk Grove High School in a Mid-Suburban East dual.

Both teams got to celebrate program records in the 500-yard freestyle.

Elk Grove senior Colin Williams won the event in 4:53.61, erasing the mark that had existed since 1977. It's already Williams' second team record of the season, as he established a new benchmark the previous week in the 200 IM.

The second-place finisher in the 500 free was Rolling Meadows freshman Josh Dellorto. He touched in a personal-best 5:01.14 and also broke the Mustangs' program record.

Meadows senior Jake Barson won the 100 breast (1:00.56) and the 100 free (51.66) and also had legs on the winning medley and 400 freestyle relays. Filip Pancerz won the 100 fly and 100 back, and Kuba Debkowski won the 50 free (22.85) and had legs on all three winning relays.

Palatine d. Schaumburg: Freshman Jake Klein won the 100-meter freestyle (56.62) and the 200 IM (2:22.71) as the visiting Pirates took control with a 1-2 finish in the medley relay followed by a 1-2-3 finish in the 200 free from Adam Smith, Jordan Kalina and Jacob Baran in a 122-63 decision.

Sophomore Alex Bartosik (100 fly, 100 breast) won twice individually for the Pirates.

Palatine's Dylan Wilken had the top diving performance (191.95), and Schaumburg's Anthony Gershman, Jeff Luerssen and Shane Donovan placed 2-3-4.

The Saxons got a swimming victory from Jack Pyde in the 50 free (27.15).

Barrington d. Conant: The host Broncos picked up a victory in their first MSL West contest by topping the Cougars.

Barrington won all the swimming events, including wins from Riley Lehmann (200 IM, 2:08.80), Jeremy Kleinjan (500 free, 5:04.74) and Mitch Gavars (100 free, 52.02).

Conant's Cole Aykroid had the top diving performance at 224.40.
