Holiday Lights Contest: A look back

Editor's note: To clarify, one random voter will win a Toro snowblower with an MSRP of $439.

Bill and Jennifer Kyprianidis put up such an impressive lights display that their neighbors didn't even try to compete.

The Elk Grove Village couple won the Daily Herald's 2010 Holiday Lights Contest for their elaborate decorations at 1495 Morgan Drive.

Next door, Robin and Binu Joseph simply put up a "ditto" sign pointing to the Kyprianidis house.

"It's sort of a joke," Robin Joseph said in 2010. "They're always giving us a hard time that we don't put up any lights. This year we decided to be lazy and put up the copycat sign."

Whose holiday lights are the best on your block? If yours are something special, submit a photo online at dailyherald/contest/holidaylights.

Entries will be accepted until 11:59 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 14.

Online voting begins Tuesday, Dec. 15, and we'll announce the grand prize winner in the Dec. 23 edition.

The top prize this year is a Toro snowblower with an MSRP of $829.

We'll also select Editor's Choice winners in DuPage and Lake counties, the Tri-Cities, the upper Fox Valley and the Northwest suburbs who will receive $25 gift certificates from a local restaurant.

And one random voter will win a Toro snowblower with an MSRP of $439.
