Shedd Aquarium sea otter pup named Luna

Thousands of people voted and the tally is in: Shedd Aquarium's sea otter pup will be named Luna.

The announcement was made Friday on ABC's "Good Morning America" while aquarium animal care workers introduced the pup to her new exhibit for the first time. She previously was known as "Pup 681."

The otter arrived at Shedd Aquarium a little more than a month ago after she was found alone on a California beach. She was just days old and weighed 2 pounds when a passer-by found her. Now she weighs 11 pounds and caretakers say she's learning how to dive, forage for food and groom herself.

The general public will get to see Luna in the spring.

Other name choices were Cali, Ellie, Poppy and Ana.
