White Sox get reliever Jennings from Marlins for Rienzo

Looking to rebuild last season's disappointing bullpen, the White Sox acquired left-handed reliever Dan Jennings from the Miami Marlins in a trade for right-hander Andre Rienzo.

Jennings, 27, went 0-2 with a 1.34 ERA (6 ER/40.1 IP), 38 strikeouts over 47 relief appearances with Miami in 2014.

“We are pleased to add a pitcher like Dan to our restructured bullpen,” Rick Hahn, White Sox senior vice president/general manager, said in a statement released Thursday morning. “He provides our bullpen with more depth and gives Robin another viable left-handed option.”

In all, the 6-foot-3 and 210-pounds Jennings was 3-6 with a 2.43 ERA in 116 relief appearances for the Marlins from 2012-14.

Rienzo, 26, went 4-5 with a 6.82 ERA (49 ER/64.2 IP) over 18 games (11 starts) with the White Sox last season.
