Fire leaves Barrington Hills home with $25,000 in damage
A fire caused about $25,000 in damage to a Barrington Hills home and injured a firefighter Monday night, authorities said.
Firefighters were called about 7:11 p.m. to the home near Spring Creek Road. The first crews arrived about eight minutes later and found smoke in the single-story home and flames near the base of an exterior wall, according to a news release from the Barrington Countryside Fire Protection District.
The two homeowners and a dog had escaped and waited for firefighters outside, authorities said.
Firefighters launched an interior attack on the fire, which was contained to an exterior wall. The blaze was extinguished at 7:41 p.m.
Investigators are still probing the cause of the fire Tuesday. The residents were able to move back into the home.
There was one minor injury to a firefighter from a neighboring district who was transported to Advocate Good Shepherd Hospital in Barrington for treatment. Fire officials declined to say how the firefighter suffered the injury.
