Car raffle to benefit Fox Valley Habitat project

Fox Valley Buick/GMC in St. Charles will give away a new car Saturday, Dec. 13, to help Fox Valley Habitat for Humanity provide affordable housing. Emir Abinion, Fox Valley Auto Group owner, will draw a winning raffle ticket at 2 p.m. The public is invited.

Tickets cost $25 each. They will be sold at the dealership until the drawing. There is no limit on tickets a donor may buy. Only 2,500 tickets are available. Attendance is not required to win.

The raffle winner may choose from a 2014 VW Jetta or Buick Verano. Both models are valued at $23,000.

In addition to the St. Charles location, Abinion's group includes Volkswagen dealerships in West Chicago and Schaumburg, where raffle tickets also are on sale.

Proceeds will fund a rehab of a Habitat home at 911 W. Galena Blvd., Aurora. The former owner, who prefers to remain anonymous, donated the house to Fox Valley Habitat after the structure was damaged in a fire.

In addition to the St. Charles dealership at 1421 Main St., tickets are available at Fox Valley Volkswagen locations at 560 W. North Ave., West Chicago, and 1000 E. Golf Road, Schaumburg; Habitat's office, 1300 Broadway Ave., Montgomery (Genesis Community Church); and Fox Valley Habitat ReStore, 4100 Fox Valley Center Drive, Aurora; and FoxvalleyHabitat.org.

"Fox Valley Habitat is dedicated to the Fox Valley community. Working in partnership with God and people of all faiths and races, we develop affordable housing for working people in need," said the Rev. Jeffrey Barrett, Fox Valley Habitat executive director and Genesis Community Church pastor. "We change lives by building and renovating houses to create homeownership opportunities."

Founded in 1989 in Aurora, Fox Valley Habitat partners with working families to provide affordable shelter. Some 50 new houses or renovations have been completed in Aurora, North Aurora and Montgomery.
