Chicago man arrested in DuPage with 1,100 Ecstasy pills

The DuPage County Sheriff on Thursday announced the arrest of a suspected Chicago gang member who police say had sold them more than 1,000 Ecstasy pills.

Erol Abdiu, of the 3900 block of Belmont in Chicago, was arrested on Wednesday night and charged with manufacture/delivery of a controlled substance, which is a super class X felony, meaning he could face up to 40 years in jail if convicted, according to a news release from Sheriff John Zaruba.

The DuPage County Sheriff's Office Tactical Narcotics Team started investigating Abdiu based on information received in October. Undercover officials worked with the Drug Enforcement Administration, DEA, to conduct a series of drug purchases totaling 1,100 Ecstasy pills, according to the release.

Based on those transactions, police issued a $1 million warrant for Abdiu's arrest.

A search warrant executed at Abdiu's home on Wednesday found hundreds more Ecstasy pills, police said.

Abdiu will next appear in court on Dec. 16.
