Car crashes into Arlington Heights home

A car that was struck from the side by another vehicle Tuesday afternoon wound up crashing into an Arlington Heights home, police said.

A woman was driving west on Central Road with her two sons in the car around 4:20 p.m. Tuesday when her car was struck from the side by another vehicle, Arlington Heights police said. She tried to stop her vehicle but could not and ended up crossing the eastbound lanes of traffic and crashing into a home on the 1000 block of South Belmont Avenue. police said.

Police described the collision between the two vehicles as a hit-and-run, and the only description police have of the vehicle that struck the woman's car is that it was a silver minivan.

The female driver whose car struck the home suffered minor injuries and was treated and released from a hospital.

No one was home at the time of the accident, police said.
