Putnam County to meet on new state's attorney

HENNEPIN, Ill. - The Putnam County Board will meet on Saturday to consider appointing a new state's attorney.

The (Peoria) Journal Star reports that the board must appoint someone to replace State's Attorney Jim Mack, who was elected as a judge earlier this month and will be sworn in on Monday.

The meeting originally was scheduled for Wednesday, but rescheduled for Saturday after the newspaper objected that the board did not give the required 48-hour notice under the Illinois Open Meetings Act.

Board Vice Chairman Chauntelle Biagi-Bruer says the meeting was scheduled for Wednesday was scheduled to coincide with another scheduled that day on the 2015 budget.

But she says the board rescheduled because "we wanted to make sure that everyone knew about it."
