Despite personal loss, much to be thankful for

Though my family and I endured a big loss this year, we have a lot to be thankful for. Our mother, Ruth, passed away in March. My faith in the Lord has never been a bigger blessing. Sometimes the best way to find out if something is true is to literally live it out, and that was my experience this year.

Here are some other things I am thankful for: my sister and my aunt, who assist me and accept me as I am; my used camera to improve my photography; my friend who is 45 years older than me and has a mother's experience and the heart of a child; and our veterans.

Lastly, I am thankful to those who hurt me. They show me through their actions the kind of behavior and personalities I wish to avoid. At the risk of sounding facetious, I do pray for you.
