Night life: Cast a vote in martini challenge

Martini contest

Help decide the next No. 1 martini in the 'burbs by trying and then voting for the martinis and establishments listed at dailyherald.com/contest/martini-challenge. Vote by Dec. 3. The top 12 mixologists chosen by the public then compete before judges and a live audience Dec. 15 at Old Crow Smokehouse in Schaumburg. Sample the martini finalists in an evening that includes live music and appetizers. $15 admission.

Santa's Magic on tap

Follow up Libertyville's tree lighting ceremony Friday, Nov. 28, with a little bit of Santa's Magic, the limited-time holiday brew tapped that day at Mickey Finn's Brewery. Santa's Magic, a strong Belgian ale with a hint of sweetness, is about 7 percent alcohol. Prices aren't finalized but will likely be about $7 per 12-ounce brew or buy it by the growler. Betty Soul headlines that night.

Ladies night

It's ladies night at Villa Verone starting at 7 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 4, when Cliff Tartaglia presents the Rod Stewart Experience. The evening includes drink specials such as house wines for $5 a glass, $8 well martinis and half-priced appetizers.
