Arrest made in northern Indiana stabbing death

TRAIL CREEK, Ind. — Northern Indiana police responding to a report of an argument found a Michigan City man stabbed numerous times lying on the front lawn of a residence.

Police in Trail Creek, a community 60 miles east of Chicago, say 54-year-old Thomas Arndt was brought to Saint Anthony's Hospital in Michigan City where he was pronounced dead. Police say they received a 911 call about 1 p.m. Sunday from someone reporting an argument. During the call someone yelled that there had been a stabbing.

State police say a suspect was taken into custody at the scene by Trail Creek police. The name of the person taken into custody is being withheld until formal charges are filed.

Witnesses said the argument was about property. The investigation is continuing.
