Waukegan looking for Ray Bradbury statue ideas

WAUKEGAN- Ray Bradbury fans in Waukegan are looking for unique ideas to create a sculpture to honor the famed author.

Bradbury was born in the Chicago suburb in 1920 and lived there until he turned 13. He died in 2012 at age 91.

Richard Lee is executive director of the Waukegan Public Library and chair of the Ray Bradbury Statue Committee. He says the committee is "looking for a way to make Bradbury live forever." Sculpture ideas can be sent to the library.

Bradbury was known for fantasy and science fiction writings, like "The Martian Chronicles" and the classic "Fahrenheit 451." He left his personal collection of books to the Waukegan Public Library.

Waukegan has a park named after Bradbury and the library holds a yearly Ray Bradbury Storytelling Festival.
