Police: 6 charged in several Aurora burglaries

Aurora police recently made 6 arrests in several burglaries in the city's east side, officials said.

The most recent arrests came Tuesday: Five juveniles accused of burglarizing homes on the 600 block of Alyce Lane and on the 900 blocks of Front and Mountain streets, Aurora police said in a news release.

A resident called police just after 11 a.m. after witnessing four boys acting suspiciously in the Alyce Lane area, officials said. Two of those boys, a 16-year-old and 17-year-old, each were charged with one count of burglary and one count of felony theft, police said. Police still are searching for two other suspects who fled the area.

Shortly after that, an Aurora police officer stopped three other juveniles - two girls, ages 16 and 17, and a 17-year-old boy - walking near Smith and Liberty streets, whom the officer suspected were truant from school, according to the news release. As the officer took them into custody, he searched them, finding $2,000 cash, jewelry and electronics, police said.

A couple of hours later, officers received several calls from homeowners in the area of Front and Mountain streets reporting home burglaries. The three teens each were charged with two counts of residential burglary.

All five juveniles remain in the Kane County Youth Home.

Earlier this month, Aurora police arrested an Aurora man connected to several far east side car burglaries. Kenneth D. Loyd, 18, was charged with three counts burglary related to the theft of electronics in October from vehicles on the 3000 block of Autumn Lake Drive and 2900 block of Waters Edge Circle.

Loyd also faces criminal damage to property charges for damaging a car on the 2800 block of Breckenridge Circle on Sept. 8. He's also suspected in numerous other vehicle burglaries in the area, police say. Additional charges could follow.
