Deer Creek-Mackinaw, Keith Country Day win titles

Class 2A: Former Bartlett coach Brandon Mueller won his first girls volleyball state championship as Deer Creek-Mackinaw defeated Dakota 10-25, 25-22, 25-23 on Saturday at Redbird Arena in Normal. Mueller, who coached at Bartlett four years and is now in his second year at Dee-Mack, claimed his 150th career victory with the win. His Chiefs, who finished the season 36-3, went 37-2 last year in claiming third place at state.

Class 1A: Keith Country Day, which beat Harvest Christian in the supersectional for the third straight year, won its third 1A title in a row, beating Hartsburg-Emden 25-11, 25-23. UConn recruit Iman McGary had 11 kills for the Cougars, who finished the season 38-2 to give them a three-year record of 110-12.
