Free help available as insurance sign-ups begin
Free help signing up for health insurance is available at many locations throughout Illinois as a three-month enrollment period begins under the Affordable Care Act.
Trained enrollment counselors will be visiting a wellness fair at the South Shore Cultural Center in Chicago on Saturday from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. The event also will feature healthy holiday cooking tips and recipes provided by Le Cordon Bleu and the Illinois Restaurant Association.
In East St. Louis, enrollment assistance will be offered Saturday at the State Street Center and Shining Light Missionary Church. In Belleville, enrollment counselors plan to visit Christian Conqueror Church.
In Madison, consumers can look for help at Bethel AME Church. The Southern Illinois Healthcare Foundation is organizing the outreach in that part of the state.
