Wheeling firefighters hand out coats to students

Wheeling firefighters handed out 100 U.S. made winter coats to needy students in Wheeling Township Elementary District 21 students on Saturday at Station 24, the fire department headquarters.

Firefighter Emmett Gribbens, president of Wheeling Firefighters Local 3079, said the project was done by the union but had the cooperation of department leaders and school officials. He said the initial goal had been to raise funds to purchase 80 coats, so he was very pleased with the success of the effort.
