Hanover Park to award scholarships to college-bound students

The village of Hanover Park has started to accept applications for a scholarship program aimed at high school seniors.

The winner of the Michael H. Coleman Youth of the Year award will receive a $1,000 scholarship, while three runners-up will get $500 each.

Applicants must live in town and write a one-page essay showing how they have been involved in "improving both themselves and the village." They must also submit a letter of recommendation from a teacher, coach or employer.

The deadline is Friday, Dec. 5. For details, call (630) 823-5609 or visit hpil.org.
