Aurora police ask for help to ID hit-and-run driver

The vehicle that critically injured a bicyclist last week in Aurora left behind part of its front grill, police say.

It's enough to identify it as a truck but police say beyond that, they still don't know who hit a 58-year-old Carol Stream man just before 6 p.m. last Thursday near the intersection of Liberty Street just east of Farnsworth Avenue. Aurora police are asking for help from the public in identifying the truck, described by witnesses as a full-size pickup similar to a Ford F-150. It sped away east at a high rate of speed.

The bicyclist remains in critical condition. He was taken to an Aurora hospital and later airlifted to another suburban hospital for treatment.

Anyone with information should call Aurora Police Traffic Investigators at (630) 256-5330 or Aurora Area Crime Stoppers at (630) 892-1000. Calls to Crime Stoppers are anonymous and qualify for a cash reward of up to $5,000 for information that leads to arrests.
