'Trashy' fashion show, educational expo Saturday at Oakton

A Trashy Fashion Show featuring some 30 outfits made from reusable materials will be one part of an educational expo showcasing green initiatives Saturday at Oakton Community College. The 2 p.m. fashion show, the eighth hosted by the Solid Waste Agency of Northern Cook County, will feature designs made by local high school students and will drive home a point about lessening waste, officials said. From 10 a.m. to 3 p.m., representatives from Oakton's green committee will discuss sustainability initiatives at the college, and provide tours of the new Science and Health Careers Center, which includes several environmentally friendly elements. The building is scheduled to open in late January. For details visit swancc.org.
