Heartland School raises money during run

Heartland Elementary School in Geneva and the Kids with Heart PTO Committee raised more than $3,400 for Marklund during the 12th annual Run From the Heart on Oct. 16.

In this charity event where the students participate in a kids' dash and/or 1-mile fun run while donating 100 percent of the registration money to a local charity.

This year's charity - as voted on by the Heartland student body - was Marklund, a nonprofit organization that serves infants, children, teens and adults with serious and profound developmental disabilities and special health care needs.

Several Marklund residents and their caregivers also participated with 180 Heartland students in the Run From the Heart, which raised a total of $3,448.50.

Marklund is a nonprofit organization that serves infants, children, teens and adults with serious and profound developmental disabilities and special health care needs. With two locations in Geneva and Bloomingdale, it is currently home to nearly 120 clients.
