Burglars drive car through Ferragamo store in Aurora

Burglars drove a minivan through the front window of Salvatore Ferragamo early Tuesday morning in Aurora, taking more than $40,000 in purses and luggage, police said.

The burglary happened at about 4:30 a.m. in the Chicago Premium Outlets Mall on the 1600 block of Premium Outlets Boulevard.

Security cameras show at least four different people getting out of the Dodge Grand Caravan and grabbing merchandise after it slammed into the building, causing $20,000 damage, Aurora police said in a news release.

As police responded to the alarm at the store, they discovered a van with heavy front end damage parked on Premium Outlets Boulevard with its doors open and several purses in and around the van.

Police believe the stolen merchandise was transferred to another vehicle and burglars then fled.

As he was responding to the alarm, a security guard saw a sedan pull alongside the van, but he couldn't see the damage from his angle so he didn't stop it, police said.

The van was stolen out of Chicago.
