Kojzarek coasts to victory in Kane District 19

Kurt Kojzarek's opponent was a no-show during the race for the Kane County Board's 19th District seat.

It was no matter to voters Tuesday.

According to unofficial results, Republican Kojzarek coasted to another four-year term, collecting 3,008 votes compared to 1,788 for Democratic challenger Hidayat Khan.

Kojzarek thanked his supporters, who tallied nearly 59 percent of the vote.

"In the end, we all want to do what's best for our community," Kojzarek said. "I'm just so grateful the voters who gave me another chance."

Khan, who also lost to Kojzarek two years ago, did not respond to requests for interviews or candidate questionnaire information during his uncontested primary election or the general election.

In the last two years, Kojzarek said he worked to: provide transparency, hold the line on the county's property tax levy and help create a business-friendly atmosphere.

For the next term, Kojzarek wants to maintain fiscal discipline and oversee the completion of the Longmeadow Parkway.

"I don't want to just keep the (county) levy flat; eventually I want to lower taxes," he said.
