Fire's Johnson to train with EPL club Hull City

Chicago Fire goalkeeper Sean Johnson will train with English Premier League side Hull City A.F.C. from Oct. 30 through Nov. 9, Fire officials announced Tuesday.

“This is a good chance for Sean to continue to train in a Premiership environment,” said Fire head coach Frank Yallop. “He's had similar training experiences in the past as a result of the relationships that we have abroad, and it's a good opportunity for him to stay sharp as we turn our sights to the 2015 season.”

Johnson, 25, was recently named the Fire's MVP and Defensive Player of the Year for the 2014 season. Although the Fire missed the MLS playoffs, Johnson made 96 saves and recorded six shutouts.

“Going to Hull City will be a fantastic training opportunity,” said Johnson.
