Schneider's tactics are disappointing

I have been disappointed by the political ads being displayed by our politicians during this recent campaign. Rather than stating what the politician stands for they attack their opponent.

Brad Schneider's ads for the 10th Congressional District are some of the most misleading and disappointing of all due to their scare tactics. How can we trust our representatives to represent us in Washington when they lie to us in their district?

Brad Schneider's ads state that Bob Dold wants to drill for oil in Lake Michigan. Besides being a false statement, the compacts between Canada and the United States governing the Great Lakes would never permit drilling in the Great Lakes.

Many of the other positions attributed to Bob Dold by the Schneider campaign in these ads are also false and made to scare voters. Rather than trying to scare voters, why isn't Brad Schneider's campaign telling us what he has done in Washington for the voters during the past two years?

I supported Bob Dold in the last campaign for two reasons. Bob is one of the few politicians willing to reach across the aisle and work with the other members of Congress regardless of their party. The second reason is that a politician should be available to their constituents more than just a couple months prior to the election.

We need representatives in Congress that will work together regardless of the other representatives' political affiliation. We also need politicians that will regularly contact their constituents rather than hiding out in Washington. Finally, we need politicians who do not distort the truth about their opponents. I believe Bob Dold meets those qualifications and urge residents of the 10th District to support Bob come Election Day.
