Munger is candidate who represents change

The Daily Herald wisely endorsed newcomer, Leslie Munger over incumbent Democratic State Rep, Carol Sente saying lawmakers must be held accountable for their votes; I wholeheartedly agree.

Ms. Sente voted yes to House Bill 2418 creating a Lake County Election Commission which was an unfunded mandate paid for solely by Lake County taxpayers. The Commission would have added an unnecessary layer of government superseding the County Clerk's office to manage elections in Lake County only.

Sente's vote is egregious because the commission would cost a million dollars, targeted a single county and was a perfect example of one-party rule - political patronage gone amok.

Fortunately, it was deemed unconstitutional.

Another vote Sente should be held accountable for is House Bill 2987. She voted to require the state to use union-only labor on state contracts. This, too, is an outrageous vote costing the taxpayers millions of dollars extra by eliminating competition. Rewarding labor only is a clear illustration of Madigan cronyism and a total disregard of Illinois' hard working taxpayers.

Additionally, Sente supported legislation that resulted in getting her and other lawmakers a $3,100 pay raise when the state is broke and can't pay its bills.

This must stop. Vote for change; elect Leslie Munger.
