Police: Carpentersville man groped woman, 22, on sidewalk

A 36-year-old Carpentersville man is charged with groping a woman as she walked home from a gas station, police said.

Adam G. Green, of the 100 block of Del Rio Road, faces anywhere from probation to five years in prison if convicted of aggravated battery in a public place and criminal sexual abuse, both felonies.

Green was arrested and charged Tuesday morning after admitting his role in the incident to police, said Carpentersville Police Cmdr. Erman Blevins.

Blevins said the 22-year-old victim was walking home from a nearby gas station at about 11:28 p.m. Monday near Amarillo and Del Rio Drives when a man followed her from behind.

The man reached under her shirt and grabbed her breast, causing her to pull away, Blevins said.

"Then he grabbed her wrist and tried to pull her down on the grass," Blevins said. "She fought and he said he was sorry and left the area."

The woman identified Green in a photo lineup and he was arrested that night and put in a holding cell overnight.

"He was too intoxicated to be interviewed," Blevins

Green is being held at the Kane County jail on $40,000 bail, meaning he must post $4,000 to be released while the charges are pending. He is next due in court on Thursday.

According to Kane County court records, Green has been arrested and convicted of driving under the influence of alcohol in Carpentersville in June 2000 and June 2008.

He also was convicted of resisting arrest in a March 2010 incident in Carpentersville and ordered to perform 100 hours of public service, records show. He also has arrests for marijuana possession from January 2011 and June 2000 in Carpentersville, records show.
