Mickey Finn's Brewery and Pet Factory presented a check for $5,000 on Oct. 10 to Save-A-Pet, an organization providing safe haven for abused, neglected, injured, or lost animals, as well as those that have escaped euthanasia, leading to the successful adoption of more than 40,000 dogs and cats.
The money was raised from the creation and sale of Mickey Finn's Pet Factory Wit at Mickey Finn's Brewery beginning during the July kickoff of Libertyville's "Dog Days of Summer" celebration through September, with a matching donation from Pet Factory
The donation coincided with Mickey Finn's Brewery's 20th anniversary as Lake County's oldest and largest microbrewery, as well as Pet Factory's 25th anniversary as the leading manufacturer of USA sourced and made rawhide products.
Brian Grano, owner of Mickey Finn's Brewery, newly relocated to 345 N. Milwaukee Ave., Libertyville (one block south of its previous location); Tom Miller, owner of Mundelein-based Pet Factory; and Jeff Boeing, vice president of sales at Pet Factory, presented the check to Amy Knudsen, vice president, board of directors, Save-A-Pet, Lake County, Grayslake.
"Save-A-Pet, its residents, volunteers, staff, and board of directors couldn't be more appreciative of the generous support provided by Mickey Finn's Brewery and Pet Factory," Knudsen said. "Supportive business owners like Brian Grano and Tom Miller help Save-A-Pet save the lives of countless animals."
"We are happy to make this donation to Save-A-Pet in support of the good they do for animals in distress," Miller said.
"We urge others to become involved in the good work Save-A-Pet does," Boeing added.
"We owe many thanks to our loyal and discerning customers, as once again we have proof you can drink beer and do good at the same time," Grano said.
