Peoria man gets 23 years in Wal-Mart armed robbery

PEORIA — A 19-year-old Peoria man has been sentenced to 23 years in prison for robbing $270 from two acquaintances at gunpoint in a Wal-Mart parking lot.

The (Peoria) Journal Star reports Seanquarius Ewing was sentenced this week after pleading guilty to two felony charges of armed robbery using a firearm.

Ewing robbed two men at an East Peoria Wal-Mart Supercenter in February. He offered to give them a ride home and pulled a handgun from his SUV's glove compartment once the men were in the backseat. One man handed over about $250 and the other gave up a $20 bill.

Ewing let them leave the vehicle unharmed but threatened to “shoot up their house” if they reported the crime.

The men called police anyway, and Ewing was inside the store when officers arrived.
