Boys soccer / Lake County roundup

Max Warren scored in the first overtime, lifting Stevenson's boys soccer team to a 1-0 upset of fourth-seeded Barrington in a Class 3A regional semifinal at Barrington on Tuesday night.

Jeremy Klaber made a staggering 26 saves in goal for No. 13 Stevenson (7-6-6), which will play No. 12 Highland Park in Saturday's 6 p.m. regional final.

Highland Park upset No. 5 Hersey 1-0.

Grayslake Central 1, Wauconda 0: At Chicago Amundsen, Isaac Longenecker scored off an assist from Joey Mudd in the first half, and the Rams edged the 13th-seeded Bulldogs in a Class 2A regional semifinal.

Connor Gosell earned the shutout.

No. 4 Grayslake Central, the Fox Valley Conference Fox Division champs, advanced to Saturday's 3 p.m. regional final against the winner of today's match between No. 5 St. Viator and No. 12 Amundsen.

Buffalo Grove 2, Warren 1: At Buffalo Grove, the host Bison stunned the top-seeded Blue Devils.

No. 14 Buffalo Grove earned a berth in its own Class 3A regional final at 5 p.m. Friday against No. 9 Wheeling, which defeated No. 8 Waukegan by forfeit.

Sean King and Zach Masciopinto scored for Buffalo Grove.

Warren finished 14-3-4.

Grayslake North 3, Northside Prep 1: The Knights got goals from Beto Gomez, Lucas Buckels and Sean Dameron in their own Class 2A regional semifinal.

Julian Jimenez added a pair of assists for Grayslake North (12-8-2), which will play No. 7 Johnsburg in the regional final at 3 p.m. Saturday.

"We started a little slow, coming out with some visible nerves in our opening game of these regionals," Knights coach Adam DeCaluwe said.

Northside Prep scored first, but Gomez got the equalizer when he headed home a cross from Cole Karabinus.

About 10 minutes into the second half, Buckels scored inside their box, assisted by Jimenez. Dameron finished the scoring.

"The second half we did a good job of keeping them under pressure for the entirety," DeCaluwe said. "We played with purpose and attacked the goal from different angles and never really allowed Northside to get any possession in our half."

Lakes 2, Lake View 1: At Lakes, the eighth-seeded Eagles used a pair of second-half goals by Sean O'Brien to rally past the No. 9 seed in the Class 2A regional semifinal.

Dave Milostan had an assist for Lakes (6-10-5), which got 10 saves from keeper Jack Monson. The Eagles will play top-seeded Antioch in the regional final at 6 p.m. Saturday.

Antioch 4, Woodstock 3: At Lakes, the top-seeded Sequoits avoided the upset, overcoming deficits of 1-0 and 2-1 against the 17th-seeded Blue Streaks to win the Class 2A regional semifinal.

Antioch will play No. 8 Lakes at 6 p.m. Saturday.

Mather 2, Vernon Hills 1: At Vernon Hills, the sixth-seeded Cougars lost on their home field to the No. 10 seed in the Class 2A regional semifinal.

Mather will play No. 2 Marian Central (13-3-1) at 3 p.m. Saturday in the regional final.
