Mail carrier to keep working after lottery win
A mail carrier who scratched off a winning $2.28 million Illinois Lottery ticket says he plans to keep working until he retires in five years.
Lottery officials presented mail carrier Randy Ricard of Chicago with a ceremonial check on Monday. He won $200,000 now and $2,000 a week for 20 years on an instant lottery ticket.
Ricard says he wants to follow the example of his father and grandfather, who worked all their lives. He says they taught him "the importance of a strong work ethic."
The winning ticket was purchased at Lincoln BP, a gas station in Lincolnwood. Lottery officials gave the gas station an oversized check for their $22,800 bonus for selling a winning ticket. That is 1 percent of the prize amount.
