Leadership lacking in Metropolis discussion

The recent meeting about the future of the Metropolis Theater reported in your Oct. 4 paper is a good example of how well-meaning public leaders are not solving pressing problems.

It's important to get public input, but spending money - e.g. giving an additional $450,000 subsidy and conducting two studies without even agreement on the vision for a solution - is "putting the cart before the horse". The problem with Metropolis is not new, yet all that the officials from there could come up with was "several ideas to get themselves back on track".

Does that sound like the Metropolis Board is doing the job of providing necessary vision and leadership?

Generating "ideas" at this point without agreement on direction and a clear process to implement change is not likely to improve the situation. It's time for more adult supervision.
