Go-to guy? Bulls have some options

Even though Atlanta didn't play most of its starters, the Bulls got to experience a dress rehearsal for a regular-season fourth quarter Thursday.

Bulls coach Tom Thibodeau brought back Jimmy Butler, Joakim Noah and Pau Gasol for the final 6:07, playing mostly with Kirk Hinrich and Tony Snell. Butler scored 20 points down the stretch and hit the game-winning 3-pointer at the buzzer. Does this mean the Bulls have a new go-to scorer?

"I think we have a team that's built to be a different guy on any given night," Thibodeau said. "You can't overlook Pau and you can't overlook Derrick (Rose). Doug (McDermott) will have his games, everybody. So if a guy gets a hot hand, or he's got a good matchup, you're going to go there."

Butler shared similar sentiments after the game.

"I think we have a team full of options," he said. "I guess tonight they just put the ball in my hands. Any other night, it could be Derrick, it could be Pau, Jo. Jo would love to take a three, by the way. So you never know. Whoever's feeling it."

Rose didn't play in the fourth quarter against the Hawks, but Thibodeau isn't worried about his progress

"It's going to take some time," he said. "He's been away from the game for a long time. Every day is a little better."

Cuts haven't come:

Through five preseason games, two players on the Bulls' roster - Kim English and Ben Hansbrough - have yet to play. E'Twaun Moore has logged just two minutes.

Tom Thibodeau isn't sure when the Bulls will make some cuts.

"We'll see. The guys we do have have done a great job," he said. "I like the guys we have in camp. They've made our practices good. They've done their job. And they're capable. If they're here, they're capable of making a roster."

Dunleavy on mend:

Tom Thibodeau isn't sure if Mike Dunleavy will be back for Sunday's game against Charlotte. Dunleavy missed Thursday's win over Atlanta after suffering a minor injury in practice.

"He's better, but still not quite there" Thibodeau said.
