Road commissioner did job well

We were very sorry to learn that Mike Graham recently resigned his position as Libertyville Township Highway Commissioner. We live in Libertyville Township on West Rockland Road and since Mike has been the commissioner, we have seen remarkable improvements to the maintenance and upkeep of the road and easement.

One thousand daffodil bulbs have been planted alongside the roadway to increase the beauty of all of our properties. Buckthorn that was taking over the wooded areas has been removed.

Litter along the roadside was picked up regularly. Grass along the right-of-way was mowed more often. Dead and overgrown trees along the easement were finally being trimmed back or removed, making it safer for all who walk or bike along Rockland Road to get to the Des Plaines River trail.

All of this was completed in the year and a half that Mike was commissioner. I will miss the attention that Mike Graham gave to not only our road but all of the roads in Libertyville Township. His successor has big shoes to fill.
