The Illinois Chapter of the National School Public Relations Association's (INSPRA) handed the award to District 70 during INSPRA's Annual Communications Contest and Golden Achievement Awards luncheon on Sept. 26 in Oak Brook. More than 150 entries were submitted in the categories of annual reports, audio/video, calendars/handbooks, electronic publications, financial information, marketing materials, newsletters, special purpose, website and writing. Entries were judged against criteria of excellence, and only those receiving top scores in a variety of areas received awards. NSPRA chapter members from Alabama, Indiana, Iowa, Michigan, Minnesota, Mississippi, Missouri, Nebraska, New York, Ohio and Wisconsin served as judges for those categories.

INSPRA honored Technology Director Pam Imholz and Technology Literacy Coach Jill Przybylski with an Award of Merit for their informative and extensive video called "21st Century Learning in D70." The video explained the technology vision for the district, as well as showed samples of student work and how a variety of technology was used every day in the classrooms. The video can be seen on the school district website at d70schools.org at this link http://www.d70schools.org/?sect=home&func=pod&media_id=366

Imholz was unable to attend the award ceremony, so Supt. Dr. Guy Schumacher attended with Przybylski.

"The INSPRA Communications Contest provides state-level recognition for outstanding education publications and programs created by those committed to building a greater understanding between schools and the publics they serve," said INSPRA President Peg Mannion, APR, Community Relations Coordinator for Glenbard Township High School District 87.

"The contest also provides an opportunity for continuous improvement, as contest participants receive expert feedback from the contest judges.
