Join Oct. 21 workshop on Carpentersville intersection improvements

The village of Carpentersville is looking to improve the intersection of Washington and Main streets in the Old Town Area and wants to hear from residents. During peak hours, the intersection presents traffic and safety problems for drivers, cyclists and pedestrians.

To address these problems, the village is conducting a health impact assessment of potential transportation improvement plans.

The village invites residents, business owners and other stakeholders to participate in the workshop for the development of the HIA from 9 a.m. to noon Tuesday, Oct. 21, in the main conference room at the Carpentersville Public Works Building, 1075 Tamarac Drive.

Attendees will have the opportunity to participate in a basic training about HIA and join an interactive discussion about the potential health risks and benefits associated with different options the village is considering to address traffic and safety issues at the intersection.

The meetings is free and open to the public. It will begin promptly at 9 a.m.

To RSVP, which is encouraged but not required, contact Samantha Sherrod at ssherrod@cmap.illinois.gov or (312) 386-8712.

For those who cannot attend the meeting, there will be future opportunities to participate. Additional information on the project can be found at cmap.is/lta-carpentersville-hia.
