Congress created the student loan problem

I just saw Sen. Durbin's commercial about how he will fight for students to be able to refinance their student loans. Wow. He's a real hero of the people!

But he asked the same question in the commercial that I did. Why can't people refinance their student loans?

Didn't the federal government take over the student loans to save us from those mean, nasty banks who were making billions off of those loans? So, there must be a law stopping people from able to refinance their loans. Didn't Sen. Durbin (and most Democrats) vote to take over the student loan business? Why is there a law in place to stop student law refinancing in the first place?

It looks like to me, the federal government took over the student loan business to obtain the billions of dollars of profits under the guise of "helping" students. Can the federal government be labeled "nasty" and "greedy" too?

As politics as usual, Sen. Durbin (and the Democrat party) are telling us to vote for them so they can save us from a problem they created in the first place, I don't think so, Senator, I don't think so.
